About Rey S. Bufi

Kuya Rey · Filipino Storyteller

Rey S. Bufi, or Kuya Rey as he is fondly known, is a storyteller, trainer, and inspirational speaker with over 20 years of experience in community development, education, and capacity-building. He is known for designing and facilitating workshops that help individuals and teams develop self-awareness, confidence, resilience, and the courage to take action.

He is the founder of The Storytelling Project, Basa Bookstore, and Bahaginan Publishing House — initiatives rooted in the belief that stories can transform mindsets, inspire purpose, and create lasting impact. Through these organizations, Kuya Rey has traveled across the country, conducting storytelling and personal development workshops for more than 30,000 teachers, volunteers, community leaders, and professionals from various industries.

He is also the founder of the Kuwentista Movement, which brings together leaders, educators, and advocates to advance storytelling as a catalyst for learning, cultural preservation, and social transformation — and serves as its co-lead convener alongside Dennis Tiu and Deivid Rioferio, APR.

Kuya Rey’s sessions blend storytelling, reflection, and experiential activities, making learning personal, practical, and deeply human. Drawing from his own journey of building purpose-driven organizations from the ground up, he delivers inspirational talks on grit, perseverance, leadership, and the courage to begin — encouraging participants to move beyond fear, limiting beliefs, and inaction.

A recipient of numerous local and international recognitions, his work resonates with audiences who are seeking not just motivation, but meaning, clarity, and the confidence to take their next step — whether in their personal lives, careers, or organizations.
